Butterfly with Cluny Petals

Thank you all for leaving me such nice comments on my tatting! As a matter of fact, I saw a robin in the yard this weekend that looked exactly as my tatted one. Spring has definitely come to Oklahoma City, even with the latest cold front moving through.
This little beauty is called Jean's Butterfly and is a design by Jean Tallet. I used one of my favorite colorways of Lizbeth Size 20 thread. I think it is called spring garden. You can definitely tell that it's been a while since I made Cluny petals. Some look pretty pathetic. This is my motif # 20 the second time around.

  1. Wow- if those are pathetic clunies, I'm not even going to try! I think it looks lovely!

  3. Your butterfly certainly does look like spring. A very different, lovely pattern. I understand what you mean when one hasn't worked with clunies for a while. But I still love making them.

  4. Beautiful butterfly, lovely thread (Spring Garden is one of my favorites), and excellent clunies, in my opinion! I have yet to do clunies, but patterns like this one (and some videos on the 'Net) are inspiring me to try them. Speaking of patterns, is this one available?

  5. Your butterfly is so lovely. I have not attempted clunies before, but I know I have to do it some day if they can turn out so pretty as this.

  6. Ooooh! Pretty pretty! I haven't worked with clunies for so long I can't remember how I did them. I got fairly decent at them once upon a time, but truly, I don't enjoy making them.

  7. It sure is a lovely pattern with nice colours. But I see nothing pathetic in those cluny leaves. I'd consider myself a master if I could make them like this! You did a good job!

  9. Brigitte, where can this pattern be found? Might want to venture tatting one when I'm happy with the clunies I'm practicing tatting. :)

  10. Lovely design! You can tat cluny circles around me! The thread colours are almost perfectly reflective of the opposite side of the butterfly. Did you plan it that way, or is it a happy accident? Looks wonderful!

  12. I LOVE butterflies, and this one is absolutely beautiful. Do you share your patterns? If so I would love to have a copy. I am also very eager to see a pattern for your flowery bookmark. Where can I get these patterns from ?
